Ethics Code

Code of Ethics

To guarantee the quality of scientific articles published in the Revista CEDAMAZ, our Editorial Committee adheres to the code of conduct for editors of scientific journals established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Duties of Editors

  • Plagiarism detection: all manuscripts, before their publication in the Revista CEDAMAZ, will be evaluated with an anti-plagiarism software (Urkund). The documents that exceed five percent (5 %) of similarities detected by the software and that do not include the proper bibliographical references will be rejected.

  • Honesty: the editors must evaluate the manuscripts submitted to the Revista CEDAMAZ based solely on the scientific merit of the content, without discrimination of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnic origin, nationality, or political opinion of the author(s).

  • Impartiality: the editors shall always act impartially when handling the manuscripts submitted to the Revista CEDAMAZ. The editors shall respect the intellectual independence of the author(s). The author(s) have the right to reply if they have been negatively evaluated.

  • Decision making: the editors must guarantee the selection of qualified reviewers and specialists to conduct a critical and expert review of the manuscripts. For each manuscript, the Revista CEDAMAZ selects between two and three reviewers external to the publishing entity to ensure more objectivity in the peer-review process. Manuscripts that editors deem inappropriate due to lack of quality, evidence of scientific fraud, or contrariness with the journal’s objectives may be rejected without such review.

  • Conflict of interest and disclosure: the editors commit not to use the content of the manuscript submitted to the Revista CEDAMAZ in their research without the written consent of the author(s). The editors must refrain from handling an article when they have a family relationship, present friendship or manifest enmity, form part of the same research group, participate or have participated in the direction or co-direction of a doctoral thesis in the last five years, or have collaborated in other economic or scientific-technological activities with the authors.

  • Confidentiality: the editors must keep confidentiality on the received manuscript and its content until the article has been accepted for publication. The editors shall not disclose information about the articles submitted for publication to other people who are not the authors, reviewers, and editors. From the moment of submission, the manuscripts are considered confidential documents and the anonymity of the authors will be preserved. The editors and the Editorial Committee commit to maintaining the confidentiality of the manuscripts, their authors, and reviewers so that anonymity preserves the intellectual integrity of the entire process.
  • Timeliness: to ensure a timely dissemination of the manuscripts, the editors are responsible for meeting the time limits during the revision process and the publication of accepted papers. The editors agree to comply with the standard deadline established by the Revista CEDAMAZ: a maximum of 60 days in the acceptance/rejection from the receipt of the manuscript in the Open Journal System, and a maximum of 150 days from the start of the scientific review process by experts.

Duties for Authors

  • Authorship: the co-authors who have made substantial contributions to the conceptualization or design of the research, the analysis or interpretation of data, the creation of new software, have written or substantially revised or edited the manuscript should be considered. All co-authors must approve the submitted version of the manuscript. Each author's contribution shall be mentioned after the conclusions section using the “author contribution taxonomy”. For this purpose, we invite to carefully read the section on “Author Contribution” in “Submissions” and the template to submit your manuscript to the Revista CEDAMAZ.

  • Originality and fidelity of the data: the author(s) submitting manuscripts to the Revista CEDAMAZ attest that the work is original and unpublished, that it does not contain parts of other author(s) or other fragments of works already published by the author(s). In addition, they must declare that the data is reliable; that is, the empirical data has not been distorted or manipulated to verify hypotheses.

  • Multiple and/or repetitive publications: the publication of a manuscript in more than one journal is against the code of ethics of the Revista CEDAMAZ, except if the manuscript has been presented as an abstract or as part of an undergraduate or postgraduate thesis; otherwise, author(s) must refrain from this type of practice. When a manuscript is part of a thesis, the primary reference should always be mentioned and cited.

  • Citations and references: the author(s) shall always provide the correct sources and contributions mentioned in the article.

  • Data access and retention: when the Editorial Committee of the Revista CEDAMAZ deems pertinent, the author(s) must make available the sources or data on which the research is based. Author(s) shall keep the data for an appropriate period after the manuscript has been published and, when possible, author(s) shall make the data accessible to the public.

  • Conflict of interest and disclosure: all authors must explicitly declare that there are no conflicts of interest that might be seen to influence the results or interpretation of the manuscript. The authors must also disclose all funding sources or the financial support for the project from which the manuscript is derived.

  • Errors in published manuscripts: when author(s) identify an important error or inaccuracy in their manuscript, they must immediately inform the editors of the Revista CEDAMAZ. The pertinent amendments shall be mentioned at the bottom of the manuscript (always as a side note, so as not to alter the manuscript).

  • Responsibility: all author(s) submitting manuscripts to the Revista CEDAMAZ are fully and exclusively responsible for the content of their manuscripts. Authors shall conduct and exhaustive review of the most recent and relevant scientific literature on the subject analyzed, bearing in mind the plurality of streams of knowledge.

Duties of Reviewers

  • Contribution to the editorial decision: each manuscript submitted to the Revista CEDAMAZ is reviewed by two or three referees, external to the publishing entity, this allows more objectivity in the review process. Peer-review process helps editors make decisions on submitted manuscripts and improves the quality of manuscripts accepted for publication. Reviewers shall avoid presenting their reviews in long paragraph, instead, they shall list the sections or aspects to be improved or clarified within the manuscript, to make it easier for authors to effectively address the comments. Reviewers can also include their comments and observations in the manuscript by using track changes. Reviewers assume the commitment to conduct a critical, honest, constructive, and unbiased review for both the scientific and the writing quality. Reviewers are asked to avoid any personal reference in their comments that could recognize their identity.
  • Timeliness: reviewers who consider that the topic of the manuscript is beyond their field of expertise or cannot finish the revision in the due time shall notify immediately to the editors of the Revista CEDAMAZ. Reviewers agree to evaluate the manuscripts in the shortest possible time to meet the established deadlines.
  • Confidentiality: each   assigned   manuscript   shall be   considered   as confidential. Therefore, the manuscript shall not be discussed with other people without the explicit permission of the editors.
  • Objectivity: the reviewers must conduct an objective review. The reviewers are required to provide sufficient reasons for their assessments. The reviewers shall justify their judgments and comments by submitting a complete report according to the Revista CEDAMAZ’s protocol and the established public norms for reviewers, especially when the reviewer recommends rejecting the manuscript. The reviewers must inform the editors whether significant sections of the manuscript have been published or are under revision in another journal.
  • Text display: the reviewers shall indicate the references of fundamental books or scientific papers that might have been forgotten by the author(s). The reviewers must also report to the editors any similarities or coincidences existing between the submitted manuscripts and other documents that are already published.
  • Anonymity: the Revista CEDAMAZ conducts a double-blind peer-review process to ensure an objective, unbiased and transparent revision process. For this purpose, the identity of the author is deleted before the papers are submitted for peer review. If the identity of the authors, their institutional affiliations or any other information has compromised the anonymity of the document, the reviewer must notify the editors immediately.
