Endoscopic dilation of esophageal stenosis in a patient with bullous epidermolysis.
Abstract
Epidermolysis bullosa is a genetic dermatological disease of autoimmune etiology that is characterized by fragility of the skin and mucous membranes, with formation of blisters with minimal trauma, which causes digestive manifestations. We present a 25-year-old male patient with a history of Epidermolysis Bullosa since childhood, with a one-month history of dysphagia associated with weight loss, diagnosing the presence of proximal esophageal stenosis by radiological and endoscopic methods. Two sessions of endoscopic dilations with Savary Guillard plugs were performed satisfactorily with good response. Esophageal stenosis secondary to epidermolysis bullosa is rare, endoscopic dilations in this type of stenosis must be done with caution, to avoid the presence of complications, good results are obtained with spark plugs and with an air balloon.Metrics
