Abstract

The relationship between physical activity and life satisfaction has been extensively studied in adolescents, adults, and elderly adults, finding as a common denominator that physical activity plays a fundamental role in the perception of life, promoting benefits such as the reduction of anxiety or stress levels, as well as the improvement of self-esteem and mood, generating both physical and mental well-being. The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between physical activity and the level of satisfaction with life in students of Clinical Psychology at the National University of Loja during the period March-August 2024. This was a quantitative study of descriptive and cross-sectional type; it comprised 177 participants who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, to whom were applied the instruments International Questionnaire IPAQ to determine the level of physical activity and the International Questionnaire SWLS to know the satisfaction with life, 79.67% of the total number of participants were female and 20.33% were male and showed a high level of physical activity in the age group 17-20 years old, as for life satisfaction, 41.67% of males and 33.33% of females were satisfied with life between the age range of 17-20 years. The relationship between the variables was obtained through the Chi 2 test, determining that there is no significant relationship (p=0.139>0.05) between physical activity and life satisfaction; however, when determining a correspondence analysis, it showed an inter-category association of 0.845 (84.5%), showing a correspondence between a high level of physical activity and satisfaction with life.
