Abstract
The incidence of interest rates on business development is the subject of research by several authors in various economic and political contexts, representing the cost of capital in the investments of small, medium and large companies. The analysis is done with the systematization of secondary information of databases of governmental and non-governmental organizations from the period between 2007 and 2017, a correlation of variables is performed to determine the relationship between the variable annual interest rate and growth and annual business development that is manifested in the increase in sales by companies and the increase in placements in the financial sector, especially in the business sector, prevailing the type of commercial loan, which tends to decrease due to the appearance of last three years of other types of credits dedicated to the sector of small, medium-sized enterprises, to the productive sector; the maximum active interest rates established by the Central Bank of Ecuador remain constant throughout the analysis period, which shows that the interest rates for each segment were indifferent to the variations of the financial placements, to the growth in sales of the companies and the tax collections made by the SRI. There is a significant share of financial placements in relation to GDP (gross domestic product).
