Abstract

In May 2023 the Jocotoco Ecuador Conservation Foundation in cooperation with the Herbarium "Reinaldo Espinosa" -LOJA-, of the National University of Loja, conducted a botanical expedition in the Municipal Conservation Area (ACMUS) Block 3, in the forests located in the upper part of the Filo del Aguila and Cordillera de San Francisco, canton Palanda, province of Zamora Chinchipe, whose plant formation corresponds to evergreen montane forest of the southern part of the Eastern Cordillera of the Andes; with the purpose of collecting, identifying and registering the different floristic taxa of this zone. For this purpose, the technical team of the Herbarium recorded information on floristic diversity, endemic and threatened species, new records for science, making the identification of species and photographic record of the species, with a total of 23 epiphytic species, 31 tree species, 20 shrubs, 6 creepers-climbers and 3 species of palms, which will contribute to scientific knowledge important for formulating strategies and making conservation decisions.
