This study was carried out in the El Para sector, San Pablo parish, Archidona canton, Napo. The objective was to estimate the biomass lost due to the effects of silvicultural maintenance activities in a 19-month-old forest plantation with the native species called Chuncho/Seike (Cedrelinga cateniformis). To determine the biomass loss, a direct measurement was carried out using a destructive harvesting technique. For this, 30 samples of green matter were taken from two types of cover (stubble and grass), in a 0.25 m2 subplot, using a 0.50 × 0.50 m frame. After Chapia, it is obtained that the dry weight corresponds to 53% of the green weight in grass cover, while in stubble cover the dry weight corresponds to 40.5% of the green weight. The stubble cover loses 20.63 tonnes/ha of dry biomass and the stubble cover loses 27.58 tonnes/ha; if we consider the interventions of two additional crowns necessary to complete the maintenance of the plantation in one year, 33.01 tonnes/ha/year of dry biomass is lost in the pasture cover and 35.8 tonnes/ha/year in the stubble cover, the information obtained being of vital importance for the design of future mitigation plans for the reduction of GHG emissions in the management of forest plantations.References
