Abstract

Pedro de Cieza de León was born around 1522 in Llerena (Extremadura - Spain). He arrived in America in 1535, in his adolescence. During the 17 years he lived in America, he participated in military and exploratory expeditions in territories that today belong to Peru, Ecuador our Colombia. Cieza de León is remembered for Crónica del Perú [The lordship of the Incas], a book that represents the first serious project of writing a history of the Andean world. Cieza de León, in this text, recounts the history of the Incas and the conquest of Peru. He delves into the history of the Spanish conquest of Peru, including the conquest of Cuzco and the capture of the Inca emperor Atahualpa by Francisco Pizarro. The author provides a detailed account of pre-Columbian life in the Inca Empire and its expansion. He also details the customs, religion and social organization of the Incas. He offers descriptions of Inca society, religion, customs and traditions, as well as information on the conquest, and life in colonial times. We have selected descriptions of the geography of Peru, some rites, the flora, its fruits and naturefor to present in this monograph.
