Primary health care is a strategy that brings better health outcomes, greater equity in access to health services, better efficiency of health systems, better user satisfaction, and more sustainable outcomes. The aim of this project was to determine the participation of nursing in primary health care (APS) in the 07D02 district of the canton Machala. To this end, we worked with a population of 42 professionals in nursing, to whom a validated survey was applied. The results show that nursing professionals obtained a high level of participation in intra and extramural activities. In the teams of Integral Health Care (EAIS), an average level of participation in the home visits, palliative care and epidemiological surveillance was obtained. The frequent activities at the intramural level were the preconsultation, postconsultation, curative activities, health promotion and disease prevention. At the extramural level, the vaccination campaign with the EAIS, home visits, health fairs, and health education. Although there was a high level of involvement of nursing staff in APS at intra and extramural level, there was non-accessibility to users due to the lack of nursing professionals, which difficulted the quality of care. Other frequent activities are: measurement of vital signs, recruitment of children under 1 year old and women of childbearing age for vaccination, malnourished children and pregnant women for prenatal control in pre-consultation and vaccination campaigns.Metrics
