Productive and economic assessment of the fattening of Turkeys from the Nicholas 700 Stock

The production and economic evaluation of the fattening turkeys from Nicholas 700 consisted in estimating productive parameters of the corresponding turkeys to individual weight, weight gain, feed intake and feed conversion weekly and determine the profitability of the fattening turkeys according to income and costs production. The initial average weight, at the 4th week of turkey age was 1,003 kg / poult, and after 11 weeks of fattening, at the 15th week of turkey age, reached a final average weight of 12,906 kg, achieving an increase in fattening of 11,903 kg. Balanced average consumption per animal was 29,807 kg with a feed conversion of 2,504. The total cumulative mortality was 9%, and carcass yield of 89% of body weight. The total cost per animal was $ 45.71, gross profit of $ 61.47, considering the sale of turkey and pavaza, giving a net profit of $ 15.76 per animal and high profitability which reached 34.48%, so we recommend spreading raising turkeys as one of the best productive alternatives for both rural and business sector.Metrics
