This is a fragment extracted from Chapter I The forests of the cinchona in Book VII The plateau of Cajamarca. Former residence of the Inca Atahualpa. Specifically, it is the last book of the work Cuadros de la naturaleza, which was translated from French into Spanish in 1856 under the supervision of Humboldt himself. In this section, the Baron speaks of the tropical Andean moors, Peruvian antiquities, the upper Marañon Valley and the Amazon River. Also, and this is the focus of these pages, the city of Cajamarca and its shelter for Atahualpa in his last days. This fragment is presented with updated spelling because it is so in the work that was consulted.References
