The objective of the research was to analyze the presence of the pragmatic paradigm in the scientific literature and its recent consolidation as an epistemological foundation of mixed methods or mixed approach in social research, in order to contribute to the dissemination of the epistemic bases that provide support for the mixed research. The methodology was the systematized review of documents indexed in the Web of Science (WOS) and Scopus databases, through the use of descriptors directly related to the research question. Due to meeting the pre-established inclusion criteria, 24 articles, 6 books and 2 book chapters published between 2007 and 2023 were analyzed. The main results reflect a consensus among the authors regarding the preeminence of pragmatism as support for the mixed approach. The conclusions confirm the universal recognition of the pragmatic paradigm in social research with mixed methods.References
