Abstract

The following comments are the result of observations and measurements made by the Baron and his team between 10º north latitude and 10º south latitude during the years 1799 to 1803. He characterizes in a general way several plants, adding that if the essay arouses a great deal of interest, he could provide more details by means of special botanical charts. He assures that he already has enough scientific data to be able to indicate for each plant "the maximum and minimum latitude of the height of the place above sea level, air temperature and soil conditions and characteristics of the rocks that outcrop nearby."  He ends the text with explanations dedicated to the quina of Loja.
